Open House Tips

At Elders we have found that homes that are opened for inspection can result in a quicker sale of your home.
In fact, according to The Real Estate Institute 27% of houses are sold as a direct result of open houses.
To help ensure that your open home is successful for you please use the following guide –
  • clean windows
  • declutter rooms (if necessary store belongings that you won’t be needing)
  • place fresh flowers around your home
  • heat or cool rooms dependant on weather
  • turn on lights if needed
  • bake bread/biscuits or brew coffee to provide a homey feel
  • get rid of any cobwebs
  • dust, dust and dust!
  • weed garden and mow lawns
  • ensure that there is plenty of parking, do not leave your cars in front of the home and if possible ask neighbours to leave the immediate street clear as well
  • add an extra enticement for your open house guests such as a bowl of lollies etc.
  • a fresh coat of paint if needed or possible is fantastic
  • remove evidence of pets
  • clean away smudge marks around powerpoints and lightswitches
  • fix up any cracks
